DIGITAL ENVOY LANDS NEW CEO
Financial Services Executive Strengthens Reach for New Product Line Aimed at Online Fraud
Atlanta, GA, May 24, 2004 - Digital Envoy, the leading
provider of IP Intelligence solutions, today named William J. Calpin,
a former Equifax executive, as its new Chief Executive Officer. His
selection provides additional strategic range within the financial
services arena as the company continues to launch its new IP Inspector™ products
to address online fraud.
Calpin brings more than 25 years of successful sales and management leadership experience to Digital Envoy in the financial services industry, as well as the information services and technology sectors. Digital Envoy is also banking on his expertise in accelerating growth, building the infrastructure necessary to support current and planned initiatives, and especially in identifying new applications and markets for its IP Intelligence technology.
"I welcome the opportunity to help lead Digital Envoy t the next level," Calpin said. "I was attracted by the strength of this team, the unique technology and the solid industry leadership position the company has established over the last five years. I believe a tremendous opportunity exists for IP Intelligence to move beyond the technology itself to address special problems and opportunities within a variety of vertical industries."
Digital Envoy serves as the industry standard for IP Intelligence technology, allowing companies to "non-invasively" uncover new levels of insight about online users based solely on their IP addresses. When first introduced by the company in 1999, this technology was called "geo-intelligence" or "geo-location", but Digital Envoy has evolved it into much more than just geographic information about an online user to include other intelligence factors such as connection speed, domain name, ISP and language. Current business applications include online ad targeting, enhanced Web analytics, digital rights management, content customization, security and intelligent network management. In addition, Digital Envoy recently launched its new E-scam product, the first addition in the new IP Inspector series, to provide solutions for online fraud.
Calpin assumes his leadership role from Dave Keller who stepped down to accept a chief-operating-officer position with Humanizing Technologies, a technology start-up in Indianapolis, nearer his family.
Before joining Digital Envoy, Calpin partnered to launch Ocean Cove Associates, an independent consulting firm that pursues business acquisition and investment opportunities. Before that, he was General Manager and Senior Vice President of Sales for X.HLP, Inc., a global software and services company. He also previously served as Chief Executive Officer for Abridge, an Internet technology company.
Prior to Abridge, Calpin had been a member of Equifax's executive team, starting in 1995, when the global information services firm acquired his company, UCB Services, Inc. He was President and Chief Operating Officer for UCB Services of Chicago and served as Vice President of Citicorp Mortgage in St. Louis. His earliest leadership roles were with Unisys Corporation, which he joined upon graduating from the University of Washington with a degree in business administration.
