Digital Envoy Named 2002 Technology Pioneer by World Economic Forum
Atlanta - (Jan. 24, 2001) - Digital Envoy, the leading provider of geographically intelligent Internet solutions, has been named a 2002 Technology Pioneer by the World Economic Forum, and will be awarded at the annual meeting (Jan. 31 to Feb. 4, 2002) in New York City.
Each year up to 100 Technology Pioneers are selected by forum members, constituents and collaborators and evaluated by an external review committee of technology experts. The criteria for nomination include:
- Innovation (recent technology development and heavy investment in R&D);
- Growth and sustainability (long-term market leader and well-formulated plan for future growth);
- Proof of concept (demonstrated application of emerging technology);
- Leadership (visionary management that drives the company to reach its goals);
- Status (cannot be a forum member); and
- Potential impact (on business and society).
Award recipients are companies that are developing and applying the most innovative and transformational technologies. Their cutting-edge work represents an invaluable source of entrepreneurial talent and positions them at the forefront of change in a variety of technology sectors.
Digital Envoy began the enormous task of charting a physical map of the Internet's 4.2 billion IP addresses in early 1999, using advanced algorithms and "autonomous search agents." Its patented NetAcuity technology instantly delivers the precise global geographic location of users (down to the city level), without using cookies or inaccurate third party databases. This technology cannot collect any personal information (ie. street address or phone number), so users can feel secure in knowing that their privacy is protected.
Sanjay Parekh, Digital Envoy's chief strategy officer and co-founder, was one of the key inventors of NetAcuity technology and was instrumental in developing RealPath routing technology. He draws upon his extensive experience in technology development and product deployment to lead the strategic vision of the company.
"It's an honor to be recognized by such a prestigious and proactive organization," Parekh said. "Digital Envoy's goals are in line with those of the forum; we are working to make the Internet a truly global medium. We will continue to serve as the industry standard, helping enterprises increase the value of their web presence by providing better visitor experiences."
In keeping with the forum's commitment to improving the world, the Technology Pioneers program was established in 2000 to provide new perspectives on technological change. By bringing executives together with scientists, academics, non-governmental organizations, members and partners, the forum hopes to shed new light on how technology can be used to stimulate medical breakthroughs, create economic growth and embrace global communication. The forum will also engage these entrepreneurs in dialogue on important global issues such as ethics, privacy and bridging the digital divide.
The meeting was originally scheduled for Davos, Switzerland, but moved to New York City on November 7 due to the forum's determination to prevail over the adversity brought on by the September 11 attacks.
