Digital Envoy and Coyote Point Systems Partner to Develop Emissary, First Global Data Traffic Management Appliance with Geo-Location Capability
ITM Appliance combines global load balancing and web content geo-targeting; Exhibiting at Fall Internet World, Javits Center, NYC, Dec. 11-14, Booth 470

San Jose, CA and Atlanta, GA - December 10, 2001 - Coyote Point Systems, the price/performance leader in Internet Traffic Management, and Digital Envoy, the leading geo-targeting provider, today announced their joint development of Emissary, the first global load balancing appliance incorporating state-of-art geo-location capability.

Emissary will be on display at Fall Internet World at the Javits Center in NYC, Dec. 10-14, Booth 470. The product is scheduled to be commercially available in January 2002.

Emissary enables global companies to automate delivery of location-specific content while routing traffic with maximum efficiency amongst geographically dispersed server farms. Using Emissary, enterprises can:

  1. Target web content based on the geographic location of the user down to a city-level worldwide, enabling any global enterprise with a web site to: provide a local "look and feel" to the user, instantly presenting a user with web content in local language, currency, etc. as well as geo-targeted product offerings; reduce bandwidth costs by eliminating downloads of web pages that ask users to "choose your location"; and allow location-based restriction of downloads and content to enable compliance with local laws or contractual obligations.

  2. Instantly route Internet traffic to the server farm best able to handle the user request based on intelligent geo-location/global load balancing technology, providing users with faster access to web content.

  3. Avoid broken connections, automatically bypassing down servers or server farms.

"The combination of Digital Envoy's NetAcuity™ technology and Coyote Point's Envoy™ and Equalizer™ intelligent load balancing products creates a powerful global traffic management solution with functionality unsurpassed in the marketplace," said Rob Friedman, Executive Vice President of Corporate Development, Digital Envoy. "The ability to manage globally dispersed server farms and geo-target content from the same appliance is a revolutionary concept that should greatly benefit our customers."
